Catalog Update
We have made the final touches on the sale catalog and it is off to the printers. We anticipate the catalogs will be in the mail Friday November 4 and in your mailboxes next week. If you do not receive a catalog, please call or e-mail us and we will be glad to send another copy to you. Or you can visit our website and simply click the Request a Sale Brochure link on the home page, fill out the requested information, and we will send a catalog to you. We look forward to a great sale and we hope you can join us on November 26!
MAA Field Day at 7L
Join us for a day of fun for the whole family! The Mississippi Angus Association Annual Field Day will be hosted by 7L Farms on Saturday, September 10 at 7L Farms in Wiggins. Open to all cattlemen. Activities will begin at 1:00 pm with meat judging, breeding stock judging, and weight guessing contests available to adults and juniors. Keynote speaker, Marty Ropp for Allied Genetic Resources, will discuss the Value of Networking in Beef Production. Tim Ishee, Director of Agriculture, for Jones County Junior College, will discuss the Expansion of the Ag Department at JCJC. Trent Smith, PhD, Assistant Professor of Animal & Dairy Science, for Mississippi State University, will discuss the Relationship of Hair Coat Characteristics and Performance in Angus Cattle. Glenn Crumpler, Founder of Cattle for Christ, will discuss his Ministry and Mission. Butch Woodham, East Region Manager, for Anipro Xtraformance Feeds, will be present. After ten years of genetically selecting Angus cattle to fit the industry’s needs, we feel that we have put together an offering of superior Angus genetics available for your selection that will work anywhere in the country.
What an exciting time to be in the Angus business or cattle business in general for that matter. With extremely high cattle prices across the board and record low cattle numbers, it’s just a matter of time before this deal really explodes. On the flip side, we are also dealing with extremely high input and grain prices. That is exactly why it is important as we gear up to take advantage of these record high prices with no end in sight that we as breeders watch the bottom line. At 7L we have spent the last ten years focusing on genetic selection to help with just that. It has been first priority to us that these cattle have value in the REAL WORLD, period – no ifs ands or buts about it. 7L has made the commitment to feed our own cattle along with some of our customers’ cattle and to record all carcass data for use in our breeding selections. Besides that, we have spared no expense when it comes to ultrasounding our bulls and heifers and we have been very progressive with our HD50K DNA testing. All of this has been done with the beef industry and, more importantly, with you our customer in mind.
The females in this offering are from the heart of our progressive program and have proven over the years that they will work from a commercial standpoint to the high end Angus seedstock producer, with all the tools to complement the maternal side of any structured composite/crossbreeding program.
